Thou Shall Not Stereotype. by BonslyGuy Thou Shall Not Stereotype. by BonslyGuy
All of the hate against Christianity that I have been seeing in this community is pretty astonishing. There are stamps that flat out say, "I hate Christians." In no way am I a religious zealot or martyr of any sort, but I do believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. I also, however, support gay rights, I am in no way a racist, and I am more than open to everyone's views, no matter the reasoning. Yes, people, this is possible. All of those groups, members, and stamps saying that they hate all Christians being completely irrational. Unless you know/have met every single Christian in the world, how is it even possible for you to make a generalization like that and still think of your self as a decent person?

All of this "Christians are homophobes, narrow-minded, and all they do is pray and try to convert you," is starting to offend me. Yes, there are Christians who are very single-minded. Living in the deep South, I'm good friends with a good many of them. However, are all Christians like this? No! It's the same thing with Muslims. While yes, the horrific September 11th attacks on America were carried out by Muslim individuals, but not all Muslims are terrorists who want to destroy America! My father does business in Pakistan QUITE frequently, and he knows many followers of the Islam faith who are lovely people and would never hurt a fly. The ignorance of some people truly astounds me.

I created this stamp as a message to all of the people out there who feel the need to spread hate across an entire ethnic group, religion, race, or any other large group of people. Not JUST for Christianity. I'm not saying that you need to adopt every single view of the world there is, but don't hate someone because their views are different than yours. No one is perfect, but at least try to accept that they have their views, you have yours, and agree to disagree. Hate is NOT necessary.

christians arent even racist!! i dont know a single christian who is racist!!!!!! also christians arent narrow-minded either. however, some are homophobes, but definitely not all!!! however, it does make sense for a christian to be afraid of/dislike someone who sins all the time, which explains why some christians like me are homophobic. its also why i dont like murderers or hillary clinton, cuz they do nothing but sin.

I'm an atheist, but I don't, repeat, DON'T hate Christians. I respect their beliefs, even if they don't agree. It's just that there are those types of Christians who are homophobic, racist, or bigots, and that annoys me.

Jevovah is one of churches I hate. I've readen lots of horrible articles about Jehovah's Witnesses. Once a man raped a girl, and they weren't blaming rapist at all! Instead that they were question a girl! "What did you do? Did you got an orgasm? Did you have oralsex?" Poor girl. She might be traumatisized now. :(
If you do something which is agaisnt their laws, they kick you out and never let you meet your relatives. Not your parents, not your siblins, no one.
If you're completely from different religion or you're an Atheist, they ignore you and ban your existence.

I am a satanist myself, but I support all who are against hate and bigotry toward minorities.

And not all Christians are white. That would eliminate the expanse of Christians in other countries. I, myself, am a black Christian, and not racist; my pastor is white, and I respect him very much. I don't follow a particular religion, because that is where people mess up when trying to be godly, so to speak. They end up following a religion instead of following the word of God. And while I don't support gay marriage (not touching gay rights, because I believe that even gay people have a right to live), I am not a homophobe, nor do I hate gay people. That's another stereotype that needs to get shut down. Not agreeing with something does not equal to hate, because then the same could be said for the other side not agreeing with Christianity. Nor is Christianity conducive to the Old Testament. Christians were not around then, because Christ hadn't came to earth and died yet. When He came and died on the cross, the Old Law was fulfilled, so the death sentence was lifted from over our heads, and now we live under the new covenant of grace. And while the New Testament still say that homosexuality (not homosexuals themselves, but the act thereof) is wrong, there is no killing or stoning involved, which is another stereotype that is placed on Christians. I have yet to hear about any Christian group stoning or killing someone for being a homosexual. That would refute Christ's message of "love thy neighbor". I may not agree with certain things that people do, but I do respect them. Just because they don't follow the word of God like I do does not mean that I hate them. And just because someone did some stupid atrocity under the guise of Christianity does not mean that all Christians do the same thing. I personally believe that those that do stupid stuff while calling themselves Christians are not Christians at all. It's one thing to mess up and go to God for repentance (that's what he wants us to do); it's another thing to commit heinous acts under the name of a religion without repentance, and still think that you are right with God. People like that will be judged accordingly, as we all will be based on how we live our lives before Him.

There's not much of a stereotype. Christianity is homophobic and no matter if a particular Christian is homophobic or not, he/she still belongs to homophobic religion.

Are you seriously stereotyping the entire religion? Christianity has different branches and those branches have different views. Catholic, COGIC, Baptist, Russian Orthodox and more. Go judge those.

Homophobia in Christianity is not an invention of Catholicism and Baptism. It's in the Bible, the book that basically defines Christianity. I used to be Catholic (though I was never really against homosexuals), but later I converted to Buddhism. Proponents of idea don't represent the idea. The authors and content of idea do. Even if no Christian was homophobe, Christianity would still be homophobic because the Bible encourages homophobia. Even if every single Buddhist was homophobe, Buddhism still wouldn't be homophobic because Buddha never mentioned homosexuality, therefore he said nothing against it. Idea should be judged based on what it says, not what its proponents do.

Sorry, but it just doesn't work that way. People have rights. Ideas don't have rights. I was trying to be tolerant to all religions until I realized that no idea should receive special treatment simply because it's a religion.

I'm not a Christian actually. I'm just someone who actually is knowledged on it. It simply teaches forgiveness, love and tolerance; media just warps the way people view it by fabricating the reality by trying to turn it into something malicious. Unfortunately, general society are that easily manipulated. I just consciously formed my own decision, you don't need to be defensive about something that isn't offensive.

i've never met anyone defend christianity and actually was a pagan or something

also there's a lot of fucked up stuff in the bible, so i wouldn't say it teachers forgiveness, love and tolerance

i mean

IT FUCKING SUPPORTS /RAPE/
AND KILLING PEOPLE WHO AREN'T CHRISTIANS
AND JUST KILLING IN GENERAL

Actually, it doesn't. You're mixing it up with Satanism which supports rape, murder and pedophalia and other violent and malicious acts.
New testament teaches forgiveness and acceptance. Old testament was there to help people survive at the time because people were getting sick from not knowing how to properly cook meat and they didn't have protection so they were contracting STD's etc. That's why old testament spoke against eating shellfish and pork and having premarital sex and so on. New testament teaches to love your neighbor and let God do the judging. It's actually a good lesson for anyone, including non-Christians like you and me.
